Get A Facial. Alleviate Stress.

As summer winds down and we head into fall, you may become less carefree and a bit more stressed. Our facials are beneficial to our clients to alleviate some of that stress, and we offer many skincare options in the West Loop. Here are some reasons as to why facials are so useful for your skin and mental health.

Reduce Stress and Relieve Psychological Distress

As mentioned above, according to a study published in the Biomedical Research journal, facial massages help activate your sympathetic nervous system to reduce your anxiety levels, ultimately uplifting your mood. Massaging your face’s pressure points helps the function of other organs.

Cleanses and Rejuvenates Skin

Our facials help cleanse your face thoroughly, better than you’d be able to at home. We know your skin type and what needs to be done in order to keep it in good shape. Additionally, our facials help rejuvenate the skin by using various methods, products, and technology that help improve your skin’s texture.

Opens Up Your Pores

If you are constantly commuting in Chicago, you know it’s impossible to avoid all the pollution and damage that’s caused by the environmental free radicals. Your skin is consistently bombarded with UV rays and other toxic substances, which accumulate on the skin’s surface and clog the pores. Our professionals use steam to open up the pores, remove all the dead cells, and help prevent acne and other skin issues.

Keep your stress levels at bay this fall and come to LillieAnn’s for a facial to improve your skincare in the West Loop.

Indulge In Our Waxing Services This Summer

LillieAnn’s spa in the South Loop is here to help you with all your hair waxing needs. As the weather heats up and we all start to show off more skin to stay cool, consider waxing to keep your body hair at bay this summer. Our spa offers services from face to leg waxing (and everything in between), so come in to check out your hair removal options.

Why Waxing Is Better Than Shaving

Even though shaving proves to be more pain-free than waxing, there are many benefits that come with waxing. If you’re still considering if waxing is right for you, check out this fact list that comes with waxing:

  • Longer Lasting: Since shaving only cuts the hair down to the surface of the skin, it grows back much faster. Waxing removes the hair follicles from the base, keeping the hair from growing back immediately.

  • Smoother Feel: Shaving can cause razor burn and unwanted ingrown hairs that can leave your skin bumpy and irritated. Waxing removes hair at the root, helping you avoid unwanted redness and eliminates the annoyance of razor burn. Since the wax is also longer lasting, waxed areas will remain smoother for longer.

  • Thins Hair: Shaving, especially in the bikini area, can cause hair to grow back thicker and darker. The thicker your hair becomes the more likely shaving can cause razor burn. As hair thickens, ingrown hairs also occur more frequently. Luckily, waxing removes the hair at the follicle, which helps you avoid irritating ingrown hairs while also thinning your hair with each removal.

Treat Yourself: Massage Style

As a spa in the West Loop, lillieAnn’s has seen our fair share of stressed out clients and more. We want to help you relax into summer with frequent massages, and keeping your body healthy through the warm summer months.

Massage Frequency

Just like yoga, if you get massages frequently, you will feel better with the cumulative results. Massages may be beneficial if you are stressed or participate in a lot of daily activities, but it can also be preventative as well. If you are unsure of how often you should be getting massages, you can ask one of our therapists, and they can recommend the frequency based off of a few sessions.

Don’t Wait For A Stressful Event

If you have an injury, high stress level, or general pain, sometimes a massage could have helped avoid these ailments. A massage can be used as a preventative measure instead of the cure to pain and trauma, and ultimately you may feel healthier and less likely to injure yourself in upcoming activity.

lillieAnn’s Options

From customized massage therapy to hot stone treatment, lillieAnn’s offers a plethora of options that are medically proven to alleviate stress and even, in some cases, lower blood pressure and improve circulation. Allow us to help you rejuvenate and rehabilitate your body, leaving you stress free and relaxed.

Mental Health + Massages

Whenever we think of massages, we think of a luxurious hour (or more) to ourselves. However, did you know that massages actually benefit your mental health? Our South Loop spa is ready to relieve some of that mental stress. Read more about how massage therapy can complement psychotherapy.

Benefit One: Work-Related Stress

If you have a high-stress job or work has been busy in general, you should seek massage therapy. Stress can cause joint and muscle pain, shoulder tension, fatigue, headaches, and even insomnia. A massage can reduce your stress by boosting energy levels, thus reducing all the results that come with it.

Benefit Two: Depression or Anxiety

Two of the most common mental health issues are depression and anxiety and massage therapy can reduce the symptoms of these illnesses. Massage therapy can activate a person’s sympathetic nervous system, reducing the overall anxiety and improved the mood.

Benefit Three: Lower Blood Pressure and Improve Circulation

Studies have discovered that regular massage therapy sessions can reduce blood pressure levels. Lower blood pressure reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, and/or kidney failure. Did you know that if your body is receiving regular massages, your circulation will improve? Hands-on pressure moves blood through the damaged and congested areas of the body. The results? Lower blood pressure and better circulation.

Benefit Four: Muscle Relaxation

We all want to be constantly relaxed. Eliminating tense muscles, increasing flexibility, and providing relaxation to the affected muscles—these are results from massage therapy. If you’ve had a recent injury, this helps, too. Releasing endorphins and boosting serotonin levels in the body helps promote healthier living.

We all need a little more healing and pain management techniques. lillieAnn’s is here for your massage therapy needs. Check out the types of therapies that we offer. Call now to book your appointment at our South Loop spa. We look forward to seeing you.

Relax into Spring

Spring has sprung and with the nice weather, time seems to speed up. The bikers are out, the human-dog duo runs are back, and we cannot stop smiling into the sun. With the warm Chicago temperatures, we encourage you to invest more time in yourself to allow for breaks and peace of mind.

Quit Electronics Before Bed

Get off all things electronic–your phone, television, laptop at least an hour before you get in bed. Spring is busy in the work world and you’ll be surprised (or not) to find yourself non-stop working. Stop answering emails before you close your eyes for the night. Your phone will be there for you in the morning, so try to charge it anywhere other than your bedroom. Read a book, magazine, or article instead of binge-watching a show late at night. Allow yourself to decompress for the day. Discover how awake and productive you can be the next day.

Skincare Routine Change-Up

For most, the weather can affect your skin. Chicago skin care can be tricky, but switching up face washes along with your morning and nightly routines can make all the difference. Make sure you recognize the type of skin you have (oily, dry, etc.) when buying a new face wash. Skin changes throughout the year, so your product should, too!

Spa in Chicago Day

Plan a personal spa day for yourself. You deserve it. Even a one hour massage can totally change your mindset for the day, even the week. We have multiple options to choose from and you’ll be in professional hands.

Breathe. Relax. Enjoy the Chicago flowers. And most of all, stop by today to slow life down at lillieAnn’s.
